GLOBAL WARMING & DEFOR RESTATION

Postby creemaster » Tue May 05, 2020 4:30 pm

Hand up who thought they were two oil related boats newly arrived in Blyth?
This is part of the redevelopment of the Bates terminal (otherwise known as Wimbourne Quay and Bates terminal).
The area behind the old coal loading staithes, which is now used to import MGO (Marine Gas Oil) which is then road tankered out to the fishing boats up north, is being resurfaced and the quay itself is being strengthened for heavy lift on/off loads.
This is the link to Port's website
http://portofblyth.co.uk/major-terminal-redevelopment/
The area is being widened so the existing bund is being broken up and moved back to Crawford Street so this is how the legendary North Face currently looks
Hopefully we (Mr Hood and I and maybe the ocaissional visit by Mr Mapplebeck/Mr Robinson) can still be able to clamber up, as long as it aint too steep!
Regards
Graham

I only have cramps, not crampons. Mountains are for goats and Julie Andrews.

If you saw some of the creatures in the dwellings on the other side of the road you would be up the hill in a flash

From today's activity it seems construction of a fence along the roadside so prohibiting all access to the north face has begun.

Date:12May 2020Ref:CONTINUED REDEVELOPMENT OFBATES TERMINAL
Dear Resident,
As you may already know the Port has been making progress with plans to redevelop the Bates Terminal for some time, with the works designed to attract more companies to the Port of Blyth and as a result provide more jobs and opportunities for local people.I am writing to you to let you know that we are now in a position to commence further works to rebuild the quay at Bates Terminal and carry out essential groundworks on site.As a result, in the coming weeks construction activity will be taking place on site, although I can confirm that we will be taking all possible steps to minimise any inconvenience this may cause neighbours living close to the site. These works include the installation of a new perimeter fencing and the repositioning of the earthbund that screens Crawford Street from the terminal. Once completed, the new fence line will improve the look of the perimeter while the bund will be seeded with grass and attractive wild flowersand planted with shrubs and bushes.Should you have any comments or concerns regarding these works over the coming weeks, please do not hesitate to contact us via: 01670 357 000 or enquiries@portofblyth.co.uk.
Yours faithfully, Alan Todd
