The light blue boat under the bow of the Hudson Cape was the Dove Marine Laboratory vessel ALEXANDER MEEK which appeared on the scene in the 1950's and lasted until 1973.

The wooden sheds were known as the Submarine Sheds, going back to when Blyth was a Submarine Base. Originally a small Chapel was built onto the end of the Sheds but that was pulled down.
