In August 2010 Blyth had its own Maritime Festival and pride of place was given to the Russian Sail Trainer MIR.

The Mir is operated by St Petersburg Higher Engineering Marine College and has a Gross Tonnage of 2,257.
She was built by Stocznia Gdanska im. Lenina at Gdansk and completed in November 1987.
Engine Power is provided by twin Sulzers with a total power of 1,664 hp giving her a speed of 11.5 knots under bare poles.

The MIR in Hartlepool on August 10th, 2010 as part of the Tall Ships' Races. I'm not sure whether this should be posted on this page but, as it is the same ship, I thought it might be ok. I'm sure the Administrators will inform me if not.
