Blyth Submarine Base

A photo of the Submarine Base in the South Harbour at Blyth. The photo is named TITANIA which I am sure relates to the depot ship on the right rather than the young lady with the push chair in the foreground. Quite a few subs there on both sides of the photo.

Probably taken on the same day is HMS Vulcan a torpedo boat depot ship built at Portsmouth in 1889.

They were actually issued as Post Cards.

Checking the Dates when they were both at Blyth, the picture must have been taken between March and June 1919.

Converted on stocks and built at Clyde S.B. Co., Port Glasgow (313), launched 4/3/1915. Displacement: 5,250 tons, speed 14.5 knots, Compliment: 249.
No Armament: served throughout WW1 and served with the Home fleet through WW2. Finally scrapped Faslane September 6th. 1949

The second picture is "Her" but NOT at Blyth.

Could be Portsmouth.
