Shipping around Hull

River Hull

Hi
I'm new to this site, obviously, like all on here I am a shipping enthusiast. I have a RN background, but more interested in Commercial shipping. I am wanting to take up ship photography, write some articles and my ultimate goal is to write a book on the commercial shipping operation on the Humber, Trent and Ouse; perhaps some of you can help me with various questions that I will post on here, so here goes the first.
Can anybody give me a few details on any regular and ad hoc shipping movements that still take place on the River Hull?
All my queries will take the following format.
When - tidal needs and seasonal
Where - to which dock/berth/location
Which - the vessels concerned - need for assistance, tugs etc
What - the commercial need (cargo)
Who - for what purpose, (supplier, origination, user, purpose etc)
Any other relevant.
Best regards
John Reed - new on the site.

I'm afraid to say John but there is very little traffic on the River Hull these days. Rix have a berth up near the Wilmington bridge on Wincolmlee, their own tank barges are regulars up there. Further up near Chamberlain road Croda have tank barges taking edible oil products from their operations to King George and Alexandra dock. Deans Marine have taken over the former Brown's drydock on Lime Street and have a range of smaller vessels in for repair.
