ESKIMO of Canada Steamship Lines, Montreal at Hull, by Charlie Hill

I remember a surprise view of her berthed on the Tyne-Tees wharf on the Tees, on 16/04/1960, perhaps this was a call at Hull on the same voyage.

George,

Like you I saw the ESKIMO at Tyne-Tees/Dent's Wharves on 19 April 1961 and still there on 22 April.
These, however, were repeat sightings for me as I had first seen her in the same location on 13 February 1961 when she entered my records as new ship sighting no. 102.
After 60 years memory is vague but I'm almost certain that when I first saw her she had, unusually for those days, a red or orange hull colouring - but I could be wrong!
More surprisingly, she is recorded as still in service as GISELA under Panama flag, albeit with no movmenets shown for quite a few years. Not very often a ship her size survives for over 60 years if, in fact, that is the case.
Good to see Charlie's photo of her as well.

Ooops, just spotted my sightings seem to be a year later than the date given by George!

Seems she must have been on some regular trade, then. I recall seeing her funnel as I walked down from the station and wondered what she might be.
