Unfortunately, M.O.W.T. floating cranes do not seem to be very well documented!
EMPIRE SHIPS lists 14 of them and gives their managers during the war, but no subsequent history.
MOWT 1-6 were fabricated by Fairfield SB & E Co. Ltd., Chepstow and Newport, completed Palmers (Hebburn). Their yard nos are given as 306/1 to 306/6.
MOWT 7-10 were completed by Fleming & Ferguson Ltd., Paisley, and all had their own separate yard no.
MOWT 11-14, fabricated by Palmers (Hebburn) were completed by J. Russell & Co. Ltd., London, but no yard nos shown.
Miramar lists only four of them: M.O.W.T. 7 became the BIRKET from 1946; M.O.W.T. 10 was later renamed NEWSHOT then IONA-B; no subsequent history is given for M.O.W.T. 8; M.O.W.T. 9 became the LONDON TITAN in 1947.
From Dave's
http://www.tynebuiltships.co.uk/index.html we know M.O.W.T. 4 was later the TEES FLOATING CRANE from 1948 (
viewtopic.php?f=139&t=443) but he does not have any further information about M.O.W.T. 11.
MOWT 10 is listed on Clydesite, along with MOWT 7 which became the BEVERLEY then LONG ROCK after being the BIRKET, and broken up 2006; and also MOWT 9/LONDON TITAN.
I don't recall ever seeing the TIDEWATER 60 (so how long was she based at Hull?) and, for now, it seems her history may remain a mystery?!
