ST MABYN built as an ocean going tug for the Admiralty by Livingston & Cooper in 1919. This photo shows a group of 3 Saint class tugs when owned by Waratah Tug & Salvage Co in Australia. ST HILARY, ST ARISTELL and ST MABYN. The MABYN became the CAROLINE MOLLER for Mollers' Towages at Shanghai in 1937 and was sunk by a German E-Boat in the North Sea in 1942 when back in Admiralty service.

This August 1926 photograph of ST MABYN, ST ARISTELL and ST HILARY was taken at J & A Brown’s Hexham yard on the Hunter River NSW, very soon after their delivery from London to Newcastle NSW, and all were owned by John Brown, colliery proprietor, of Newcastle NSW. At Hexham, the fo’c’s’le heads were removed from ST ARISTELL and ST HILARY, with ST MABYN left untouched and placed into lay-up. After ‘Baron’ John Brown’s death on 5/3/1930 the tugs were sold 9/5/1931 to the Waratah Tug & Salvage Co Ltd, a subsidiary specifically formed for the purpose by the Adelaide SS Co Ltd, with the rarely used ST MABYN sold 19/5/1937 to Moller’s Towages Ltd, Shanghai.
