Shipping of Goole

After Grimsby, on to the Trent. Guess what? Not one ship in the whole stretch of the river!

Head towards Goole and we could see the THARSIS proceeding outbound from Goole.
By the time I got to the first vantage point at Whitgift she was way downriver, but I gave it a go!!!
My camera indicated a magnification of x97 while I was trying to focus. The expected distortion was there to see in the outcome!

A sad day coming - just seen the following on Facebook

Jan Albert Bosma
it's true. Last voyage after 21 years to Goole will be end of this month

I had never been to Goole for many years until I took a trip down there to look at my Uncles old boat before she was scrapped and was amazed at the number and sheer size of the Warehouses/Distribution Centres that have now "grown" in the area. Their long approach roads were handy when I completely missed the little Lane which led to the the Boatyard I was looking for
I also missed the boat as the Monday I went down there the Yard was closed

I've been advised her new name is to be AMPERE.

So we've had
THARSIS Mark I 1996-2007
THARSIS Mark II 2007-2011
THARSIS Mark III 2012-2022
I wonder if the Bosma family will continue in shipping.

I'm lead to believe they are retiring.
