Blackburn was launched at Blyth 25 March 1944. She was one of a class of aircraft transports named after naval aircraft types. Seen here in April 1963 at Greenock as an RNVR drill ship.

There were three all together.
Yard No 309 was ROC, 310 was WALRUS and 311 was BLACKBURN.

All built 1945.

Pollock of Faversham built a further 4. Blackburn was sold to Pounds in 1968 and renamed Harpounds. In 1974 became Isis Locater then Gardline Locater before being scrapped at Singapore in 1997 as Gardline Explorer.
