NOVA (NOVA SHORE - 1969)

NOVA (6914435), British, 715gt, completed Cochrane, Selby, 8-1969
1969 NOVA SHORE - 1980 NOVA SERVICE - 1988 NOVA - BU Grenaa 24.11.11 [Fornaes]
At Lowestoft 27 July 2011. This made it a clean sweep for this vessel, as I had now seen her under all three of her names.
Perhaps, however, already decommissioning at the time of my sighting because, as you will see, she was broken up only months later.

PS. The car park at Asda, Lowestoft, is a good place to photograph ships in port!

Interesting little Tug as well Ron. Did you get any better pictures of her?

Not often you see one as old as that with attatched Greenhouse and Garden Shed.

Thanks Dave.

I wonder if she has had a wheelhouse transplant sometime.

Sorry, I ignored that little tug, but I shouldn't have! I think it was because no name seemed visible on her, so thanks for this subsequent i/d.

Paul

I think she has had a few wheelhouse transplants. See:

For her original form.

NOVA SERVICE [Re: NOVA (NOVA SHORE - 1969)]

Postby teesships » Tue Jul 03, 2012 1:13 pm

I found I had recorded her as NOVA SERVICE at Hull on 25 September 1987, with the DEE SERVICE alongside.
deeservice-novaservice250987.jpg
Looking back in my notebooks, the main reason Mick Green and I had travelled down to Humberside that day was to see the launch of the tug LADY THERESA at Selby ... so might have to dig out a few more negatives for scanning!!
Ron
(... and now I am left puzzling why my personal records show the DEE SERVICE as being completed as such in 8-1978, whereas Miramar show her built as the EDDA DROTT and completed 11-1976 (1976 also now confirmed by Equasis)????!!!!!! One suspects a subsequent, unnoticed (by me!) adjustment in Lloyd's Register at some time in the intervening years!)

Evening Ron, I have Dee Service as

Dee Service Br 1,039/1976
Oil Rig Supply Vessel
London
Ast. de Santander S.A. - Santander. (116)
ex Dee Shore - 81

Details from LR of the time but my electronic version from 2004 also shows Edda Drott as original name, my LR of 2000/2001 doesn't show this but does show completion date of 08/78.

DEE SERVICE [Re: NOVA (NOVA SHORE - 1969)]

Postby teesships » Mon Sep 10, 2012 9:39 pm

Patrick,

Yes, there seem to be several anomolies with the record of the DEE SERVICE. I happen to have the 1987 LR in front of me and that would be the edition I would refer to following my sighting. No mention then of once being the EDDA DROTT and, in fact, they show built 1976, cmd (commanded/completed) 4-1978. This must have subsequently altered to 8-1978 because that is what I show in my personal database.
