HANNELORE

A very interesting visitor to Immingham this past week was the German registered HANNELORE IMO6602513, por Leer ,658gt.
Normally this works round the Baltic and German coast. This is a reminder of a once numerous class of German coaster the likes of which are dwindling down to the bare bones nowadays.

Alan, you must have been reading my mind ... she was in QE Dock, Hull and sailed this morning, unfortunately I could not get to see her sailing but fancied a trip to Spurn anyway, so here she is passing Bull Sand Fort (rather distant shot against the sun). 48 years old this year.
It was a pleasure to watch her through the binocs, regardless of the photo.

Nice piccy George. She was in Immingham earlier in the week. I think she may have gone to the Gateway for orders and gone back in to Hull where u saw her. Whilst on the subject of oddities, i notice that some of the Rotterdam tankbarges have been turning up on the Thames under tow with cargoes, then getting towed back. Very interesting. Humber might just be a bit too far for them.

Alan - HANNELORE arrived at Hull from Lubeck - she has not been to Immingham. However you may find on Marinetraffic it often records Immingham as a port of call when ships pass there.

George - was out on the river but on a friends 'cat' going upriver, heard HANNELORE off Immingham on radio.

She arrived off KG just before 8pm on Thursday evening in perfect light. She appeared in immaculate condition and the sound of her engine was music to the ears.

George said: 48 years old this year. Which would make her of 1964 vintage. Wonder if George is getting mixed up with the HANNELORE he and I probably both saw years ago (1967 in my case), which was built 1964? She became the Island Venturer in 1983 and only last year (2011) Equasis recorded: No Longer updated by (LRF) IHSF (since 17-10-2004).

The present incumbent is a year younger, built 1965, so only coming up to 47 years of age.
HANNELORE (6602513), Germany, 658gt, completed Flensburg 11-1965

Hello Captain Peter, good to hear from you ..... hope that she finds a buyer who can keep her running in North European waters, I am sure she will have been well maintained and a credit to her owners!
