Tamworth was the P we thought should be a J, but was a P with J bits added. I was told it happened to another Hawthorn Doxford, but you will see from my P type lists that the nearest in dates to Tamworth were all in 1962, so it seems unlikely, but I dare not rule it out, "strange things happen at sea."
Laings Montana , launched 05.09.60, was the first P type to enter service.
Doxfords Yannis (launched 28.03.60), and Tudor Prince (launched 20.12.60) didn't enter service till later. I have a date of completion for Yannis as 1963 which seems unlikely.
The list is what I believe is every P type built, 48 in all. "DOX OWN, DOX OTH, HL, CHANT" Doxfords own ships, Doxford built engines for other shipbuilders, Hawthorn Leslie and Chantiers respectively. The list is arranged in date order (YR).
So Alpha and Omega I know, the rest is subject to interpretation and, or, superior knowledge. It is the work of an enthusiast, not an authority. Ravensworth I have as an LBD but maybe an LBD with P parts!
