I'm trying to work out whereabouts they were taken from, Ron.

Its probably obvious when someone points it out, but I must admit I'm struggling.............

Paul,

I was on the North Shields side of the river for a change to see the APOLLON (ex EMPRESS OF CANADA) sailing.
I can't now actually remember but looking at Google maps it would seem I was somewhere in the vicinity of the Low Lights Car Park/Fish Quay Sands.
I can tell you this by looking at the other views I took of the CRAGSIDER at the same time, two more outwards, then two more inwards. The first shot I took the background was looking directly towards the Little Haven inset dock (the old groyne area)/Harbour Drive. The masts must have been yachts berthed in the South Shields Sailing Club and the building works in other views must have been what is now the Little Haven building (three-legged) before construction started.
Hope this clarifies for you?

Paul, I was struggling as well until Ron's description. Is that the old pilot jetty (with yellow railings) just above the name CRAGSIDER on her stern in the first photo?
And as Ron says the masts of the yachts in the sailing club's storage area. But the background of the second photo still has me stumped.

Hi Gents

Yes Cragsider is passing the old pilot station jetty and if you blow up the picture it actually says 'Pilots' and I must have spent hours on that jetty, also if you look carefully there is a tow wire being retrieved aft as she must have just 'let go'

The other picture I would guess is almost shortly afterwards of her coming back in as that's the Groyne for sure in the background as others have said
they are building the Little haven hotel at the time.

I think you've got it now, but just in case!

I picked what seemed to be the best two views to post initially and, to be honest, the other four are not that good, but I think they will help confirm the location. Yes, she was bow tug for the APOLLON sailing.

Well I'm glad I wasn't the only one who was a bit puzzled. Builders are doing what Builders do! They always seem to construct a mound of earth and spend days moving it round the site. I would guess at that time the CRAGSIDER would be restricted to operations on the River.
