Is it just me,at over 70, almost having a lump in my throat when i see these pictures? So many men, so many ships, so much history, so much activity, so many memories and experiences, some good some not so good; so many old hands to respect and admire, so many names, so many challenges, all met head on, the buzzers at 7.30 and 4.30, the bustle in between, the canteens or tool boxes we sat on to eat our bates and read out to each other all those meaningless things we saw in newspapers, all gone now.
Shipyard life with all its vagaries, could only be appreciated and understood, like every other industry, by those that lived it.
I'm so glad and grateful for my shipyard life. I'd never have left it willingly, wish I could do it again and if I had my time over, and the yards were there, I'd do it all over again.
Thanks for the last pictures of the quayside that was such a great part of my life.
