Seems to be a busy spot suddenly.
No longer any Clan boats with sisal for the rope works!
Are there any surviving photos of them? It was often a second call after Hull.

The Clans must have been after I left Sunderland, it was always British India in my day, NOWSHERA et al.

The Clans were on the East Africa trade and a main cargo was sisal, I remember you had a British Ropes (?) factory at Sunderland ... in the days when ropes were made of 'rope'!
I guess the BI's might have been from East Africa as well although the one you mention was generally on India run or Australia/NZ as far as I recollect.

NOWSHERA alongside Corporation Quay. I would think this would be about 1960.

Could be almost anything but I wrote CHILKA on the back of the photo, with HMS TIGER in the background. Again 1960 ish.
