[Dennis Maccoy]

Despite its close proximity to Tyneside my visits to the Tees have been regrettably infrequent. A visit with my wife to friends temporarily resident in Middlesbrough in 1977 was one of my rare excursions and we were able to leave the ladies to gossip and spend some time exploring the riverside. The next few photographs are the result.

Nice sets Dennis, the Dock seemed to be busy on that day. Unfortunately after I started work in 1967 I rather lost touch with it and other Tees venues, having been consigned to the Deep South of Yorkshire!

Nice memories there..........at that time I was working on the Humber but returned to Teesside in 1979 and the Dock was often full those days.........

Interesting top pic showing "Dutch Spirit" at No.9 Quay.

Her usual berth was at the South Wharf in the Dock Cut where she loaded
nylon salt for Holland. However when there were big ship movements
in or out of the dock she had to move off the South Wharf to let them pass.
We usually moved her into any vacant berth in the dock and out again
after the movements. Presumably this is why she was at No. 9.

The Master was usually none too pleased at having to move!!!
