What particularly struck me after looking up details of my sightings over this weekend was that out of ten coasters seen, six of them had been in service for 30 years or slightly more. In fact, the average age of all ten sighitings was still 28 years, the "youngest" already being active for 20 years. I think back to the start of my interest in late 1960 and recall the excitement in those early years of sighting a "veteran" of 30 years of age or more. Among other things likely to be straight-stemmed. Not quite the same seeing these older coasters nowadays but long may these and many other workhorses remain in service!
