I was quite pleased to see the LINCOLN CASTLE in her "preserved" state in Grimsby on 28 April 2010 as it was on a trip on board her from Hull that I first visited Goole back in September 1975. Sadly, when I saw her I was unaware that her days were numbered and she was reported as being broken up in situ in September 2010.
LINCOLN CASTLE (5208671), British, 598gt, completed Inglis, Glasgow, 7-1940 - hulked Hessle 1980 - ?? Museum ship Grimsby - 9.10 broken up at Grimsby
Sad to lose her, but static ships can rarely earn their keep, fortunately WINGFIELD is safe at Hartlepool (we hops) while TATTERSHALL has unfortunately been altered beyond recognition, but at least still floating! Here is LINCOLN CASTLE in happier times, looks like an excursion up to Goole (photographer unknown)
