A couple of excellent photos there Paul. The second one shows the Wood Skinner yard at Bill Quay and I didn't realise that it was quite so big. The second group of slipways up to the left of the photo are new to me. Thank you indeed.

Any more of these gems?

Looking at the top one of Pauls photos, showing the Walker Yard. The yard is empty except for one slipway and that one is not the main slipway. I wonder if that is HMS NEWCASTLE which was laid down in October 1934.

Going back to the Wood Skinner photo. From one source I quote:

"The frames of the their last collier remained on one of the slipways to rust away until finally broken up in the late 1930s"

This could well be the ship on the slipway at top left. There is nothing else in the yard. I wonder who/what she was destined to be?

I liberated them from ebay. They were part of a series of Glass Negatives thought to have been taken in the 1920's.

Hence the quality is not the best. I have subsequently seen some prints of Morpeth taken from the same series by a professional photographer and the quality is superb.

Slightly more recent - Harker's Tynedale H (1952), Hartlepool registered fishing vessel HL 147 and Eppleton Hall alongside on 20 July 1969.
