Hms Nelson

I was shown a dirty glass negative by a friend of mine at Swan Hunter whose father had in his possession along with several yard shots of the Naval Yard. Having borrow it I asked another friend, Margaret Mole, who was in a photographic club if she could obtain a photograph from the negative. After some sterling work by her and her fellow enthusiasts this was the result.
Its gratifying to know that a little bit of history has been preserved due to those people. I hope you will appreciate the efforts made as I have.

They all did very well Terry, don't think I've seen many (if any) shots of NELSON on the Tyne.

But I've probably been looking in the wrong place....... ;)

It always seems strange that the hammerhead crane is not in the scene it has been around for so long. I always thought that trying to ship the gun turrets and guns would have been a nightmare prior to installing the crane.
