Palmers Shipbuilding & Iron - but not ships

Palmers Shipbuilding & Iron - but not ships

Postby Whickham » Sat Sep 20, 2014 9:07 am

Kevin sent me a link to eBay, showing this photo for sale for £125. It looks as though no one bought it and it is now available for £65.

However that's beside the point, the photo is what looks like a "business card" for the Cycle and Motor Works Manager at Palmers Shipbuilding & Iron Co Ltd.

Palmers made lots of things but anyone heard of them making cycles and motors? Does motors mean motor cars?

The item is as below with the front and back views side by side.

Scary things Gas Holders, especially if they have no gas in and you walk over the Crown because there is a gap between the Crown Sheeting and the Framework underneath to allow for expansion.
Your feet sink in until the two meet.........
Its no problem when they are full of gas.

No traditional gas Holders are now in use and will eventually be demolished.
