These 4 group 2 Battle conversions, as here, were not a great return for the taxpayer.
When the designs for the Battle class ships badges was done, those named for Naval sea battles had a blue background whilst those for Military land battles had red.
Corunna was a battle in 1808, her badge being from the arms of Sir John Moore the victor.

Whilst on the subject of badges, do any merchant marine shipping lines have individual ships badges.

I think the Ellerman ships named after cities had the appropriate city crest on their bows?

built as M.5 and not named until month following her launch. 8 ships comprised this Lord Clive class of 12" monitors. The large big gun monitors comprised 3 distinct classes, M.1 - M.4 with their American 14", M.5 - M.12 the 12" then M.13 and M.14 with their 15", all in a single turret with a pair of pieces each.

which is self explanatory in my mind, it clearly reads City of Liverpool.

Sir John Ellerman died aged 71 16 july 1933, supposedly as Britain's wealthiest individual, not bad for a youngster who apparently never had an interest in ships or shipping.

This City of Liverpool was amongst approx 25 post ww2 new build City class cargo liners Ellerman and Hall lines constructed, by the mid 50's they ran the largest newest fleet anywhere.
