A rare visitor seen at Middle Docks on 31 March 1972 - China navigation's Taiwan, built at Allborg as Kong Olav V in 1961 and sold to the Birka Line of Mariehamn as Baronessan a few days after this picture was taken.

Hi Dennis

Great old picture but I am sitting here looking at the ships funnel in the dock and can not make my mind up if she is one of the 'Brocklebank' line or Bibby Line ships,I just know I will know shortly

Well its certainly a Brocklebank funnel........no doubt about that!

Likely candidates would be the MAHOUT (1963/6,867 Gross) or the MARKHOR (1963/6,867 Gross) both built by Alexander Stephens and Sons Ltd., Glasgow.
