Must be the former CORDILLERA of 1920 by Short, 1948 BRANSFIELD, broken up 07/1958 at Hamburg (maybe after this incident?).

The BRANSFIELD (ex-CORDILLERA), O.N.144239.
She was a 6,865 gross ton refrigerated cargo ship, built 1920 by Short Bros, Sunderland
(Yard No.398) as the CORDILLERA for Donaldson South America Line, Glasgow.
1948 sold to Hector Whaling Ltd (Bugge & Krogh-Hansen), London for use as a
storeship, renamed BRANSFIELD. 1958 scrapped at Hamburg by Eckhardt & Co.

She returned to the Tyne in the Spring of 1958 so I would guess this was when the picture was taken.

Hi all, In the late 1950's a ship called Tekoa arrived at Swans Drydocks to be converted to replace the old Bransfield, a lot of new steel was fitted to the topsides and when the the dock was flooded she took a severe list and she had to be righted with weights so she could undock. I do believe she was renamed Bransfield for Hector whaling company. Does anyone recollect this event? Micky.

Micky
That would be the New Zealand Line's TEKOA built by Earle's at Hull in 1922, in 1958 to Hector Whaling but the new name she took was ENDERBY. She lasted only to 1960 with them before sale to Japanese owners and broken up in 1969.

The next BRANSFIELD was new from Robb Caledon at Leith in 1970.
